Hello Everyone,
It was hard for me to narrow down to just two exercises because I feel that all of them are beneficial. For me, I tend to focus on where I may be lacking or need help with for that particular day and that is the exercise that I focus on. It is sort of like me reading my Bible and reading certain scriptures or books.
However, I did narrow it down to Loving Kindness and Human Flourishing. I feel that these two really helped me refocus on loving everyone, no matter who they are and focusing on the positive in life. Being angry with others and negative can weigh very heavy on one's heart, mind, and soul so it is something that I personally would like to implement with my daily routine. I am not a hateful or negative person but at times I feel myself going there and it is the last place I would like to be in life.

Hi Jacqui,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more in regards to the loving kindness exercise. I believe that particular exercise would benefit EVERYONE! I know that I'm not a hateful person either but yes I do catch myself going there from time to time with individuals. I believe that all of us has had someone in our life at one time or another that has caused us to have ill feelings towards them. Which is a perfect example of why this particular exercise would be beneficial to everyone. Wouldn't you agree?
I know for that reason alone I will be incorporating it into my professional business when the time is right.

Jacqui,
ReplyDeleteI think that loving kindness can be incorporated into our professional lives as well. I imagine that as professionals, we will not always like our clients. The loving kindness exercise can help us to see them as people, and recognize their suffering and help us to empathize with them as well. Empathy is an important facet in wellness coaching because it helps us to identify with our client.
We all have negative feelings about some people at some point in life. It is easy to let our discontent with them to consume us. That is why loving kindness helps us prevent being consumed by a dislike for someone else. We've all been there!
Thanks,

I agree with you that being angry with others really only affects your own wellbeing. It’s like a poison that you create yourself. Any meditation that helps you let go of anger, or prevent it altogether, is a positive practice! Forgiveness is a powerful tool; benefiting yourself more than the actual forgiveness might benefit another. I think you chose a great meditation to use daily!
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqui,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that loving everyone is where you want to be, but sometimes it takes some work. I thought I did pretty well but found through closer examination that I fall short often. I can be judgmental, shallow and callous at times and that shocked me. I thought I was nearly perfect! LOL! How wonderful that we see this now and can work on this and not to be confronted with our lacking at the end of our life when maybe we don't have the power to change. What a great practice you have started by assessing your daily need and attending to it. I think that would help me too. I will try it today.
Take care,
Robin
